Sharing Support
Along with supporting Team Krissy we ask, if at all possible, to take some time and share some of your support with other Team Krissy followers fighting for similar causes. Check on this page to see updated information on what you can do to help our close friends.
Can you Help Lauren Sherman Becker?
Lauren Sherman Becker has had a relapse of Hodgkin’s disease. She is due to have a stem cell transplant in early May and needs blood. Specifically, O.
Almost all stem cell transplant patients need blood transfusions, and in anticipation of this need we have organized a blood drive for her to be held on Sunday, May 2nd at the Skirball Cultural Center from 8:30am-2pm. Her blood type is O+, which means she can receive blood from those of you that are O+ or O-. If you are either of those blood types, you can donate blood and it will be given directly to her. Some questions you may have:
- What if I don’t know my blood type? Sign up to donate blood! City of Hope will type the blood that you donate. If you match her, she’ll get the blood. If you don’t match her, your blood will go to another patient at City of Hope that needs it. Either way, you’re helping someone.
- What if I’m busy on May 2nd? Please email me if you are interested in donating, but are not around on May 2nd. You can still donate, but will have to go to City of Hope to do so in the late-April to mid-May time frame.
- I’m not O+ or O-, but I want to help. You still can! She will also need platelet donations. Platelets are small cells that help the blood clot. You can donate platelets without being the same blood type, but will have to come to City of Hope to do so. If you are interested, please let me know.
- I live too far away, what can I do? Tell anyone you know in the LA area about her and have them donate! Or maybe this is the excuse you needed to schedule a trip to LA…
If you or anyone you know would like to donate blood, please respond with the following information:
- full name of person donating
- best phone number to reach you at
- email address (if different from the one I emailed you at)
- blood type
Please help spread the word to your family and friends.
